AIGA SF FALL Event Flyer
This event flyer utilizes past events in SF as content. The purpose of this project is to organize information in an easy to digest way, while calling attention to important details. The content itself belongs to AIGA SF because it's their old events.
baskerville poster
The goal of this poster is to identify and express the distinctive visual characteristics of Baskerville, using a grid of organization. By experimenting with framing and rotation within each module of the grid, key features and characteristics of the letter forms can be emphasized.
From Dr. ziegler to mercy
The purpose of this work is to continue to refine my typography skills with what some designers call micro typography. By utilizing a typeface's opentype features combined with optical adjustments, I typeset an excerpt from Michael Chu's short story, Valkerie. This is a great way to explore and practice with finer typography aspects like ligatures, small caps, and hanging punctuation.
hierarchy and grouping
To really showcase my understanding about these concepts, the design of this document was pushed further. By showing what the content is about in a visual way, there's an added layer of communication and organization to what the viewer retains.
visual measure
The typeface Carlito was considered for its legibility and how it would look in various sizes of measures. While shaping the page, finding and using a readable measure for the text type was the first thing that happened. From there, the page was built out by grouping information for unity and hierarchy.
word illustration
The goal of this piece is to illustrate the word by using the letterforms of the word only. By applying various weights and sizes on the letterforms in a contained space, it helped portray the feeling of being crowded in a confined area.

Typography: the backbone of designs.
Typography is everywhere, and it serves the role of grabbing target audience's attention to convey a message. By doing projects that has typography as the focal point, I am honing my ability to be a better designer by turning text into impactful and legible visuals.
